P.S. What the guide shows you is how to cancel your Substack subscription. Then you can subscribe to Ghost, free or paid. That part should be pretty intuitive.

So, it looks like the Ghost auto renewal is working. Is that what you expected?

Yeah, Ghost autorenew is good.

I’ve been following and subscribing with paid subscription for several years, but retirement has realized a new budget and has reduced me to a free subscriber . I’ll follow you to the end of whatever forum you wind up on because I believe in your message so much. Shine on woman!!!

‘Kin ‘ell, what a nightmare for you Jessica. So I’ve just subscribed to Splattered on Substack and updated my subscription on Ghost. I think that was how you planned it should work? Hope you garner enough support!

Yep, that's the plan. I was about to respond to your email but it looks like you got it figured out. Some people get angry at me about all this, and I just have to say, I didn't wake up and decide it would be fun to move back and forth across platforms. It's disruptive to everyone, including me, and it would've been nice if we all didn't have to endure technocrats and their algorithms trying to decide what content everyone should be consuming. But hopefully, this offers a longterm solution and no more shuffling.

Hey Jessica, I'm a web dev, if you want I can try to help you migrate to Ghost. Can't promise anything since I have not done it before, but may be worth a shot. DM me.

Thanks for the offer. I think the simplest solution here is for people to follow some simple instructions and move themselves. The migrate tool clearly works for content and free subscribers, but if Ghost/Substack can't migrate paid subscribers I don't know if workarounds are going to make life any easier for people.

Duly noted. I will just keep renewing on Ghost and leave your Sentinel Intelligence Substack to die slowly on the vine. No offense but I have no interest in your personal life trials. I'm sure that appeals to some people but I'm here for the doomer stuff and the prepper lessons.

As for my own Substack page, I'm still watching that to see how things go moving forward. If I start seeing a stagnation or loss of people, I will make a decision then. So far, it's been a slow uptick but it always has. I'm okay with that. I'm more concerned about the possibility of censorship these days. Substack used to say they would protect us from that but now I'm wondering if the new corporate sponsors are going to change that. If anyone hears of any changes in that direction, I'd appreciate a heads up.

I've read they straight up changed the algorithms to promote content "people are willing to pay for" and only quietly admitted it when some writers started pressuring them. I interpret that as only showing people content they're apt to agree with, based on predetermined hunches by an AI, and it's already silencing many of us. I know my own growth completely flatlined, even when I was writing practical articles on prepping. Anne Helen Petersen has already noted a pattern where she gets significantly more likes when she posts flowers and birds, and I've seen other writers adopting that approach, hoping to survive this twist. I've been looking at other accounts and noticing significant drops in likes, etc, except for the very biggest writers who never really challenge the status quo. Meanwhile, writers who post apolitical self-help or lifestyle stuff with a philosophical/intellectual slant are doing very well as long as they don't reference current events. I think the censorship is already here but they're going to make it as invisible as possible. Do what works for you. I definitely don't think you need to move until you start feeling the pinch, even if you start preparing for a transition down the road. Moving is not fun, not easy, and I wouldn't be doing it if I thought I had any alternative. I wouldn't characterize my new pub as "personal struggles" but I certainly get wanting to just follow the other pub that focuses on the practical stuff. See you over there!

Well, that changes my dynamics a bit. I don't think I'm going to change what I talk and write about on Substack as I don't like to acquiesce to the powers that be (something about my Irish sense of rebellion). If you find that you're having better results with Ghost, with regard to readership, as compared to Substack, let me know. I may make the switch. I found a guy in Europe who sets up Ghost platforms and helps with the maintenance. On the other hand, just because I don't like the authorities, or peelers, as the Irish like to call them, censoring our work, I will be doing a little bit of changing. I have a personal website @www.crann-na-beatha.com with a blog section in it that I think I will start utilizing a bit more going forward. I have been writing about some of my personal journeys and thoughts there for a while but I think it's time I advertise that more from now on. I have been thinking about this after visiting your Splatter substack page and I decided the other night, after reading this post, that I don't want to give the suits at Substack and Medium the satisfaction of giving in to their algorithms by writing what their AI says sells. I like the idea of sharing some personal and political thoughts now and again but not for the satisfaction of the corporations. Especially after what ABC/Disney just did last week. But I will start making more reference to my website from now on, thanks to your idea.

Since my website is hosted on a European server, Trump and company can't pressure that company to censor anyone. I don't see Trump severing the internet connection between the U.S. and Europe because they say things he doesn't like. Me being one of them.

If you don't want to share your comparisons between the platforms with me here, you may send me a private note at todomhnaill@crann-na-beatha.com (This email server is also in Europe) to avoid any complications with the Americans. I promise not abuse the privilege.

Hey if we paid on Sentinel Substack for an annual, do we have to renew our subscription now on Ghost or can we wait until the month we are up for renewal to do so? I had gifted a few subscriptions last December so will they get moved for these last couple of months or no? Thanks!
